Hello!

This is me - Nicola, I'm the owner & operator of Blushing Tea and being a new, small NZ business, I wear all of the hats in the business.

So when you are querying about our teas, placing an order or have any questions, it's generally me you'll be chatting to - so..... HI, nice to meet you!

I do occasionally have some little helpers, any of our 3 young kids sometimes like helping out and also my husband pops his nose in every so often to whip up an order or provide unsolicited 'advice'

Our Story

It's funny where life takes you. Tea, even though I have always loved drinking it, was never something I thought of as a business idea, UNTIL, a fateful trip through Scotland many years ago, where on a cold, gloomy & wet Glasgow day, we took refuge in a little Tavern to warm ourselves.

Amongst the wine and beer lists, was a menu of 'Blooming Teas' that caught our eye - something we had never seen or heard of before, so intrigued, we spent the afternoon experiencing tea like no other.

Green tea balls were served in a wine glass and then unfurled into artistic displays of botanicals when boiling water was slowly poured over the balls. We ordered tea after tea, watching and tasting the different displays. It was mesmerising and etched such fond memories of our travels.

Returning home to NZ, life continued on as it had been, but those memories never faded and I still hadn't seen those magical teas. Fast forward to 3 children later and now all started school, it was time to find out if we could recreate that magical experience for tea lovers in NZ.

Cue July 2024 when Blushing Tea was born.

After a long search and with many trial and error, we found our own tea growers who could hand make our own little gems to bring to New Zealand shores. Our teas are all sourced from small family farms, using only naturally grown, and sustainably harvested fruits & botanicals which are then all crafted by hand. Sourcing our teas from these small, family operated growers was important to us to support 'small' but also develop a close relationship with the people that directly grow and harvest the teas. They are beautiful people and it shows in the teas that are created.

Following on the family theme, we wanted our children to be part of the Blushing Tea journey, so they all developed and named a tea after themselves. We have the 'Sweet Sadie' which is one of our pretty Blooming Teas and the 'Juicy Cooper' which is our mango flavoured Blooming Tea and then we have 'Honey Badger' - a Sugar Honey Cube Tea with lemon peels, named after our middle child, Archie. Does he have a slight regret that he called it Honey Badger? Yes he does. So watch out for a new tea to arrive with the name 'Archie' somewhere in there!

Also in ode to the supportive husband, I created and named 'My Heart' Blooming Tea.... nawww

Thank you for visiting our website and supporting our little venture. Each and every order, recommendation and word of mouth, helps our business grow bit by bit and is wholeheartedly

appreciated.
